Tucked away in the peaceful countryside of Jersey, Channel Islands, our 15th-century stable is more than just a place to stay — it's a piece of living history. Orignally part of a working farmstead, the once thatched stable (part of a set of barns) which dates back to circa 1470, has been lovingly restored and renovated to preserve its original character while adding all the comforts of modern life. Mark’s family have lived at La Robeline since 1944. It was originally Mark’s Grandparents’ home; Lucille and Reg Vibert and their daughter Christine, Mark’s mother. Mark can remember his frequent visits to La Robeline as a child with great fondness.
Lucille and Reg owned a patchwork of fields. The soil was very sandy and when Reg took it over he set about putting more structure into the soil by gathering seaweed and moving it by horse and cart. No easy task given the steepness of the hill ‘Mont Huelin’ up from L’Etacq to La Robeline.
Today, Mark and Catherine serve as the proud custodians of La Robeline. Since returning to La Robeline in 2007, Mark began the careful and considered restoration of the main farmhouse. In 2019, Catherine joined him at La Robeline, bringing with her a passion for landscaping and gardening. Together, they began transforming the surrounding landscape, ensuring its continued elegance and harmony with the natural environment.
From Rustic to Retreat – Our Renovation Journey
Our journey with the stable began as a passion project — a way to preserve a piece of the island’s rich history and share its charm with others who, like us, love characterful places, peaceful surroundings, and the beauty of simple, thoughtful living.
When we first decided to renovate the Grade II listed stable and loft, it had stood for over 500 years — tired, weathered, but full of stories. Other than home to our beloved pony Cassie, who lived to the grand age of 38, in part of the stable, it hadn’t been used in decades. Rather than let it fade, we set out on a careful heritage renovation. After several years of planning, consultancy meetings and visits from historians and ecologists, the ground works began in November 2023 as did our journey to breathe new life into the stable.
Over three years, we worked with local craftspeople and heritage builders to restore the barn. Where possible, we reused original materials — and where we couldn't, we sourced alternatives that respected the building’s history, while ensuring modern comforts for our guests. We took a hands-on approach throughout the management of the project — from applying blackjack for damp-proofing the floor and installing insulation, to completing all the painting and decorating. Today, the stable is luxury self-catering holiday accommodation that offers a truly unique stay in Jersey’s stunning countryside and nearby coast. We’ve poured our hearts into this space, and we hope you’ll feel that as soon as you step inside.
Why Jersey, Why Here?
Set within Jersey’s Coastal National Park, our stable is surrounded by winding lanes, wild hedgerows, and far-reaching coastal views. You’ll find beaches, walking trails, historic sites, and fabulous restaurants and beach cafés all within a short drive, or a leisurely walk.
Jersey’s blend of French and British culture, its mild climate, and its rich history make it the perfect island escape — and our barn is the perfect base to explore it from. Jersey has rich history & heritage, from Neolithic dolmens to World War II bunkers, history is everywhere. Mont Orgueil Castle and Elizabeth Castle offer impressive architecture and panoramic views.
Whether you're looking for a romantic retreat, a walking holiday, or simply a break from busy life, our converted stable offers space, character, and peace for a very special self-catering get away in Jersey. With its vaulted ceiling, granite walls, cosy log burner, and private garden, it’s a holiday experience that feels timeless — yet comfortable.

A Personal Welcome to Our 15th-Century Stable in Jersey
Hello. We’re Mark and Catherine, the proud owners and caretakers of La Robeline, a grade II listed farmstead and the beautifully restored 15th-century stable nestled in Jersey’s Coastal National Park, in the Channel Islands.
Mark was born and raised in Jersey where his family have lived for generations. Mark was brought up on a small traditional dairy farm, thought to be the oldest farmhouse in Jersey, where he enjoyed an idyllic childhood and countless hours on the beach. Mark has cherished memories of his childhood at La Robeline and his grandparents. Mark served in the Royal Marines for 23 years before returning back to the island.
Catherine, a professional photographer, was born in London, the daughter of a proud Jerseyman who’d moved to the UK to join the Metropolitan Police. Catherine has fond memories of her annual holidays, since birth, to her Grandparents’ farm in St Martin and to visit her wider family. In 2020 Mark and Catherine tied the knot.
“We live in the main farmhouse and are always happy to help with anything during your stay — whether you need directions, a recommendation for the best hidden beach, or tips on where to experience the best culinary delights.
